Trinidad and Tobago Named 2009 Island of the Year

(October 20) Trinidad and Tobago is the winner of the 2009 Caribbean World International Travel Awards Island of the Year.

The Caribbean World Travel Awards recognizes excellence in travel, tourism and real estate.  Editors and readers of Caribbean World Travel and Living Magazine vote for the honorary “Oscars of the Caribbean.”

In addition to Island of the Year, two Tobago hotels received special recognition.  Coco Reef resort won Best Luxury Resort Hotel award and the Blue Haven Hotel won Best Boutique Hotel.

Of the island’s recognition, Trinidad and Tobago Minister of Tourism, Joseph Ross, says, “To be recognized as the Caribbean’s leading holiday destination is a credit to the sustained efforts of our hoteliers, tour guides, transport providers and tour operators.”
